One of the pillars of DiSIEM innovation is the exploitation of the diverse Open-source Intelligence (OSINT) intelligence available on the internet to improve the security of SIEM users. However, with the recent introduction of the EU legislation on personal data protection, it is still to be clarified to what extend one can use social network data made public by users to feed OSINT processing systems. In this blog post, DigitalMR discusses some aspects of the ethics of marketing research platforms, addressing the same questions we will have to address in DiSIEM.
